Why the U.S. Pays More Than Other Countries for Drugs

My doctor gives me medicine, for which I pay a price 
that's triple what they pay for it in Norway's halls of ice.
And when I get a shot for influenza I am assured
it's half that price in Canada (and just must be endured).
Medicare will not attempt to bargain down the fees
Big Pharma charges to keep me immune from much disease.
But since I'm funding R & D as a major payer,
I guess I won't complain when I can only buy some Bayer.
